   On the occasion of the 2019 New Year, CGTN "Viewpoint" program launched a special program for the 40th anniversary of China-US relations. Amb. Su Ge was invited to participate in and interpret China-US relations of the past 40 years.

   On January 1, 1979, China and the United States formally established diplomatic relations. In the past 40 years, the huge wheel of China-US relations has experienced the storms, but it has always been moving forward. "Cooperation benefits both countries while confrontation can only hurt" has become the most important lesson and inspiration for the development of China-US relations.

   The continuous development of China-US relations not only brings great benefits to the two countries, but also effectively promotes peace, stability and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region and the world. The progress made in the 40 years of China-US relations has not been achieved easily. The two sides must adhere to the rational and objective view of each other's strategic intentions, strengthen communication, enhance mutual trust, and prevent misjudgment. It is necessary to adhere to the general direction of China-US cooperation and continuously expand cooperation to better benefit the two countries.

  "Forty is not confused." Now, China-US relations are at a new historical starting point. Facing new opportunities and new challenges, China is willing to work with the US to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries in Argentina, expand cooperation on the basis of mutual benefit, control differences on the basis of mutual respect. To promote coordination, cooperation and stability of China-US relation will better serve the people of the two countries and the people of the world.
