On October 24th, the 2024 Global Ocean Development Forum was held in Qingdao, China. Amb. Zhan Yongxin, Co-Chair of PECC and Chair of CNCPEC attended "East Asia Maritime Cooperation Platform Qingdao Dialogue" of the forum and delivered a speech. Amb. Zhan was also interviewed by Shandong People's Radio, Qingdao Evening News and other media.

In his speech, Amb. Zhan said that the ocean is the cradle of life, the source of development, and the bridge of international cooperation. China is a major maritime nation and is on the way to becoming a maritime power. It is natural for China to provide its own thinking, its own solutions and wisdom. Many of China's development concepts have provided experience and wisdom for global development and human progress in history, and will play an even greater role in the future. He believes that this forum will be conducive for China to sharing the Chinese solutions for global ocean governance. He introduced PECC to forum and called for strengthening maritime cooperation between PECC and International Cooperation Center of the “Ocean Decade”.

East Asia Maritime Cooperation Platform Qingdao Dialogue is hosted by the Department of Natural Resources of Shandong Province, the Oceanic Administration of Shandong Province, and the Qingdao West Coast New Area Management Committee, and is organized by the International Cooperation Center of the "Ocean Decade" (East Asia Maritime Cooperation Platform). It is one of the important sessions of 2024 Global Ocean Development Forum. The Ocean Decade International Cooperation Center is the first comprehensive, leading and innovative international cooperation platform in China to carry out bilateral and multilateral cooperation and participate in global ocean governance under the United Nations Ocean Decade initiative.
